On 26th April 2024, Friday, Sabuj Sangha in collaboration with India’s largest Bank, State Bank of India Foundation inaugurated the Eye Care Project to improve the eye health of marginalized people of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, such as cataract screening, cataract operation etc. through Swarnalata Sabuj Seva Sadan, a Health Center run by Sabuj Sangha in South 24 Parganas. The event was attended by Hon’ble Shri Sanjay Prakash, Managing Director, State Bank of India Foundation, Shri Rajaram Chavan, Senior Program Officer of Health and Women Empowerment, Shri Subrata Hazra, Assistant General Manager, PRCS, State Bank of India Local Head Office, Kolkata, Partha Sarathi Banerjee Chief Manager State Bank of India, Raidighi Branch. In this event, the Secretary & Director of the organization Hon’ble Mr. Ansuman Das said that the marginalized people of South 24 Parganas has to travel long distance to go to hospital with great difficulty to get health services which are beyond the reach of the people here. His also said that my mother’s death has happened almost 30 years ago which motivated me to always dedicate myself to improving the health services of these marginalized people. My mother died due to lack of health services, my goal is that no other family or any member of her family should die without treatment, for this purpose, this Swarnalata Sabuj Seva Sadan was built as a health center. He further said that Sabuj Sangha is extremely fortunate to have extended its helping hand by State Bank of India Foundation in various ways since the last financial year 2022, from Himalayan Dooars to the remote Sundarbans.
