Capacity Building

Capacity building is a continuous effort of Sabuj Sangha. The self-help groups (SHG) are provided training on group dynamics, financial management, book keeping, internal lending, bank linkage etc. as well as extended handholding support on the issues. The group structure is strengthened through forming three-tire structure i.e. group, cluster & federation at the hamlet, village & Gram Panchayat (GP) levels and continuous interactions. The federation of Nandakumarpur GP (under Mathurapur II block of South 24 Parganas district) has been registered as “Sundarban Mohila Swanirbhar Gosthi Cooperative Society Limited” (SMSGCSL) with 456 members from 42 groups. Regular interactions, orientations and training are being continued enhancing the capacity of its executive committee members. The SHG members have been capacitate on available Govt. scheme for rural community, mother & child health, small business management, water sanitation & hygiene etc.

 

Teacher’s trainings are conducted at intervals developing and improving teaching capacity of teachers, teaching methodology and usage of teaching-learning materials (TLM). Training classes on computer literacy are conducted for the students of organization-run school on regular basis. Initiative for developing trade-specific vocational skill for the youth, men and women are taken such as nursing training, poultry farming, betel vine, fishery etc.

 

Trainings on Pond/home Based Integrated Farming, SRI (Systematic Rice Intensification) method of paddy cultivation, Agriculture, Preparing vermin-compost, Raised bed for vegetable garden etc. were provided to poor SHG women, youth and farmers developing their capacities on respective areas. Farmer’s Club members were provided training on organizing other farmers, coordination, providing support to farmers, fund generation, vermin-compost, taking up business venture with bio-fertilizer etc.
