About Sabuj Sangha

Sabuj Sangha is a non-profit, non-government development organization working to improve the lives of underprivileged communities in West Bengal, India, through participation and empowerment.

Our History

Sabuj Sangha traces its roots to a small social club started in 1954 in a Sundarban village of South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. It soon began working to improve the wellbeing of communities caught between the unpredictable tides of the Sundarban delta and the region’s significant developmental deficits — growing over the decades into one of the more established development organizations in the region.

What We Do

Sabuj Sangha is registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961, and the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976 (renewed under the FCRA 2010). The organization implements programmes for vulnerable communities in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders — Indian and foreign funding agencies, corporate companies, trusts, institutions, and several departments of the Government of West Bengal. Backed by a strong network of longstanding individual supporters and well-wishers, Sabuj Sangha continues to grow year on year.
